ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an Associate Software Engineering Mentor — Full Stack Development who enjoys both building software and helping others grow.
This is a hands-on mentorship role where you will work closely with aspiring software engineers, guiding them through technical concepts, real-world projects, interview preparation, and career development.
At ElevateMe, we believe the future of software engineering is AI-first. We are looking for mentors who can teach students not only how to code, but also how to effectively leverage AI tools to design, build, debug, optimize, and ship software applications.
You will help learners develop the mindset of modern software engineers by teaching them how to:
- Break down complex technical problems.
- Understand engineering trade-offs.
- Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
- Use AI as a productivity multiplier while maintaining strong software engineering fundamentals.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, AI-curious, an excellent communicator, and passionate about mentoring the next generation of software engineers.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Student Mentorship & Coaching
- Conduct one-on-one and group mentorship sessions for software engineering students.
- Help learners strengthen fundamentals in:
- Data Structures & Algorithms
- Object-Oriented Programming
- System Design
- Software Engineering Best Practices
- Guide students through debugging, code reviews, and technical problem-solving.
- Provide personalized feedback on projects, assignments, and coding exercises.
- Track student progress and create improvement plans.
- Help students build confidence, consistency, and problem-solving abilities.
Technical Project Guidance
- Mentor students through end-to-end full-stack projects and capstone applications.
- Help students understand:
- Software architecture
- APIs
- Databases
- Testing practices
- Deployment workflows
- Review project implementations and provide actionable feedback on:
- Code quality
- Design decisions
- Scalability
- Maintainability
- Encourage clean coding practices, documentation, and professional Git workflows.
Interview Preparation
- Conduct mock technical interviews, coding rounds, and behavioral interview preparation sessions.
- Help students prepare for software engineering interviews at startups and product-based companies.
- Review and provide feedback on:
- Resumes
- GitHub repositories
- Portfolios
- LinkedIn profiles
- Provide personalized strategies to improve technical communication and interview performance.
Curriculum & Content Development
- Contribute to improving technical learning materials, exercises, and project ideas.
- Create coding challenges, interview questions, and practical assignments.
- Suggest curriculum improvements based on industry expectations and evolving technology trends.
- Stay updated with modern software engineering practices and emerging technologies.
Community & Student Success
- Build strong relationships with students and create an engaging learning environment.
- Encourage accountability through regular follow-ups and progress tracking.

WHAT YOU BRING
Must Have
Education
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 2–5 years of software engineering experience, preferably in full-stack development.
Technical Foundation
- Strong understanding of Java and Object-Oriented Programming.
- Experience building web applications and REST APIs.
- Solid knowledge of databases, Git, and software development best practices.
- Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks such as Angular or React.
Teaching & Communication Skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to learners at different skill levels.
- Strong patience, empathy, and ability to support student growth.
Ownership
- Self-driven and proactive mindset.
- Ability to independently guide students and help them overcome technical challenges.
